BOSA Introduces Electrifying Condo Upgrades at Promontory

On a sunny Victoria morning at the site of the Promontory, a new condo project at Bayview Place in the Songhees, Bosa Properties announced an exciting addition to their list of upgrade options for new condo purchasers. In addition to the typical condo upgrade packages of appliances, cabinetry, lighting etc., Bosa is offering homeowners the option to upgrade their parking stalls to include a personal high-speed charging system. Bosa Properties Senior Vice President, Daryl Simpson, was all smiles as he introduced “BosaVOLT” – a private Electric Vehicle charging station for residential parking stalls. The BosaVOLT system costs $4900-$5900 (depending on stall location) and will charge an electric vehicle in 4-6 hours. Hydro meters will be installed with the systems and the owners will be responsible to pay their own hydro bills. For many, the idea of an electric car still seems far-fetched and fanciful. Nissan was one of the first car manufacturers in North America to introduce the Leaf, an entirely electric vehicle earlier this year and many other manufacturers are quickly following suit.  Unfortunately, there are a limited number of charging stations at this time. In April, the Government of BC announced the $2.74 million Community Charging Infrastructure Fund which will help build public charging stations. Bosa Properties is making it easier for early adopters to overcome one of the main barriers in choosing a greener lifestyle; they can now charge their electric vehicle at home. “Despite local and provincial governments’ push towards environmental sustainability, and despite the fact that British Columbian companies are emerging as leaders in green innovation, without the accompanying infrastructure to support green initiatives, it is impossible for individuals to embrace the new technologies” explained Daryl Simpson. He continued, “The ability to charge electric vehicles is a huge step forward to a greener city, cleaner air and a healthier planet.  We are very proud to be doing our part to support the sustainability strategies that are being promoted by Canadian cities. By building these charging stations within our projects, we hope other developers will follow suit.” The announcement is part of a broader corporate commitment to install BosaVOLT charging systems in all Bosa Properties in British Columbia. Bosa is taking an innovative approach in offering customizable upgrades with your condo purchase and we’ll likely see private electric vehicle charging stations become a new trend with developers.
