Reliance Properties to Restore The Janion Hotel

Developer Jon Stovell of Reliance Properties, announced the purchase and restoration of the historic Janion Hotel in Old Town Victoria. A key component of this project is the purchase of the Transport Canada lands adjacent to the hotel, which will facilitate the rehabilitation of the property. The conference was attended by Victoria mayor Dean Fortin as well as several city councillors, prominent city heritage experts and members of the business community, and Victoria architect Paul Merrick. Janion Hotel: Developer and Mayor The heritage building that comprises the hotel has long been in need of restoration. Dating back to 1891, it has stood empty and derelict for more than three decades. Though the project is still in the early stages, future use of the buildings will likely include commercial and residential components. Reliance will begin planning for the restoration and redevelopment of the building and related lands immediately. [nggallery id=19] The residential components may include micro-lofts. A development permit application will be submitted later this year. Reliance has established a track record of restoring heritage buildings in Vancouver’s downtown and Gastown neigbourhoods.
