Eagle Creek Village approved by View Royal

Omicron CEO, Bill Tucker, and View Royal Mayor, Graham Hill, gathered today with colleagues and business owners for the ceremonial ground breaking at Eagle Creek Village, the $100-million mixed-use development at Helmcken Road and Watkiss Way. In addition to celebrating the strategic location for commerce, socializing, living and shopping, the celebration marked the announcement of a new View Royal YMCA-YWCA at Eagle Creek Village. News of the inclusion of a satellite Y that will include 36 day care spots topped the celebration of this “made in View Royal” community development. eagle-creek-village-in-victoria-bc $100-million mixed-use development at Helmcken Road and Watkiss Way. “Eagle Creek Village is an exciting community-inspired achievement. Everyone here today, and many more throughout the community, has helped inform and guide this cohesive community development that once consisted of five separate legal parcels of land,” explains Bill Tucker. “Eagle Creek Village will soon become the new office, retail and residential hub of View Royal – the gateway to downtown and to the Westshore – and now home to the new View Royal YMCA-YWCA. To have the Y join us at Eagle Creek Village is the ultimate compliment to this growing community and we are extremely proud to welcome them.” The satellite YMCA-YWCA will be approximately 10,000 square feet and in addition to fitness and wellness programing for all ages, it will provide 36 childcare spots, as well as teen-focused activities. “We are thrilled to become part of the View Royal community. The location is excellent and we know from our research that there is a need for services and programs for families in View Royal – especially child care,” explained Jennie Edgecombe, CEO of the Greater Victoria YMCA-YWCA whose career with the highly regarded not-for-profit spans 25 years. “This new View Royal Y and the future West Hills Y in Langford will share membership access with our main down town Victoria Y. We see this as a huge advantage for our 8000 members, our amazing volunteers and staff who will be able to participate and provide activities for their children now where they live and where they work.” “Eagle Creek Village is a hallmark development for View Royal,” said Mayor Hill. “It is a ‘made in View Royal’ project with a great combination of high calibre businesses and rental accommodation. I’m thrilled that the Y has chosen View Royal and Eagle Creek to set up a satellite operation. I believe that this will become a medical services hub for the Capital Region.” In attendance at the Eagle Creek Village ground breaking were representatives of Blackwood Partners, Bill Remple, Vice President and General Manager, and Vivian Li, Marketing Manager. Blackwood Partners are Omicron’s investment managers for Eagle Creek Village. Construction begins immediately at Eagle Creek Village. Phase 1 on the 10.4 acre development is expected to be ready for tenant improvements by December 2014. About Eagle Creek Village: 
  • Eagle Creek Village received zoning approvals in July 2013. The Township of View Royal received a $1-million amenity contribution and 3.9 acres of forested lands adjacent to the development lands.
  • Phase 1 commences immediately and includes 112,000 square feet of commercial retail space, 76,000 square feet of office space, and 60 residential rental units. Phase 1 is anticipated to be ready for tenant improvements starting in December 2014.
  • Phase 2 of the development comprises market residential product, with configurations currently being defined.
  • Omicron is the developer, as well as the design/builder of the project.
  • Blackwood Partners are Omicron’s investment managers for Eagle Creek Village.
